Working within the context of a client and family centered care model, the vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health and in accordance with the College Registered Nurses’ of British Columbia (CRNBC) standards of Professional Practice, Code of Ethics, provides first line supervision and coordinates the day to day operations of the designated program/clinic.

Is utilized for relief work on various units to provide nursing care to high risk, critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes and provides emergency care to clients presenting with a wide variety of symptoms/illnesses requiring varied care including the use of specialized equipment, such as acute trauma and multi-system failure, psychological imbalance, sexual assault and drug-induced systems, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.

Guided by the Vancouver Acute Patient Flow & Access Policy, this position coordinates efficient and timely patient flow, access and bed utilization 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at all Vancouver Acute sites. Collaborates and negotiates with external health care agencies regarding patient flow and access to and from Vancouver Acute sites.
