Ross

Co-Senior Medical Director & Trauma surgeon
North Shore, Sea to Sky corridor, Sunshine Coast & Central Coast region

“I started in 1991 as a UBC general surgery resident based mainly at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital. Other than a year in Halifax after my residency, and my own deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan, I’ve spent my entire surgical career within VCH.

Until my military retirement last year, my employment included a partnership between the Canadian Armed Forces and VCH as an “imbedded” trauma surgeon taking advantage of the great Civilian-Military Cooperation that has existed here for years. Fortunately that cooperation carries on and many of my military colleagues are benefitting from training and clinical exposure within VCH facilitated by the Canadian Forces Trauma Training Centre (West), attached to Trauma Services at VGH. I know that this VCH-CAF cooperation has resulted in better care for not only our wounded soldiers, sailors, and airmen and women but also for the patients and clients VCH serves. That makes me incredibly proud to be a part of this organization and why I love to come to work every day!”
