Terry shares:
“We both started our jobs in the Maintenance Department in 1983 and we’ve been best friends for over 30 years now. I was best man at Aktar’s wedding. One of my jobs each year is to put up the Christmas lights and I love that. I try to make it look like Vegas! I’m always joking around with people because you’ve got to have a good sense of humour at work. I could have retired already, but I love it here. I intend to see Aktar become a grandfather!”
Aktar shares:
“I started as a labourer. Working here allowed me to continue my education, get my certifications and work my way up. At one point I needed to go to school during the day and I was working afternoons. Terry was working nights and when he heard what I needed to do he traded me shifts so I could go to school in the day and work at night. That’s the kind of guy he is. I think the secret to a long and satisfying career is to be happy with what you’re doing. Come to work with a smile no matter what and maintain a good work ethic.”
Terry and Aktar have worked in VCH facilities since 1983. See our career opportunities in trades and maintenance.
