Community Engagement Advisory Network (CEAN)
CEAN is a group of patient advisors who, based on their lived experience, provide unique and valuable perspectives around health care planning. CEAN was established in 2009 and is administered by Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).

What does a CEAN member do?
CEAN advisors support various VCH project teams to provide their unique perspective, contribute to more informed decision-making and, ultimately, healthier communities across the region. CEAN advisors share their ideas, knowledge and lived experiences by:
- Participating in focus groups
- Responding to questionnaires and surveys
- Reviewing documents and policies
- Joining internal advisory committees
- Participating in discussions and forums
- Attending workshops
How to join CEAN
- Confirm eligibility. Membership is open to community members in the VCH region, who are not directly employed by VCH and are over the age of 19.
- Register online. Create an online with relevant background information, contact details and areas of interest.
- Complete onboarding. A VCH Community Engagement team member will connect with the applicant to conduct an interview, finalize their online profile and provide additional information about how to get involved with engagements.
- Join engagements. Once the CEAN onboarding process is completed, advisors can review, apply and participate in engagement opportunities across VCH.
