Anti-Racism
Creating a community where we dismantle attitudes, practices and processes that impact people based on their race or ethnicity.
Our anti-racism efforts centre on experiences of racialized communities and assert the right for all people to access safe, quality care, free of discrimination.
We recognize the ongoing impact of racism on health and health services and we are leading a meaningful transformation to support greater health equity.
As we develop a comprehensive action plan, we are guided by the following principles:
-
Drive systemic change
Enact fundamental changes to organizational policies and practices to remove barriers, reduce harm and improve experiences.
-
Engage key stakeholders
Engage, listen and centre the voices and perspectives of people who have been most impacted.
-
Partner with impacted communities
Work with community partners to create opportunities to advance VCH’s anti-racism objectives and create respectful partnerships.
