The mission of the VCH Psychology Residency program is to deliver a high-quality training program of sufficient comprehensiveness, intensity, and diversity, such that upon completion, residents will be eligible for registration in any jurisdiction in Canada.

Our program is based on the Scientist-Practitioner model of professional training.  The ‘scientist’ is nurtured via an emphasis on empirically anchored assessment and treatment methods, including the delivery of evidence-based interventions and the application and development of clinical research. The ‘practitioner’ grows from a paced exposure to the wide range of clinical rotations and training experiences available at the training sites within VCH. Our program employs a developmental training model, whereby residents are given increasing responsibilities as their competence and confidence increase.
