Jo-Ann Tait
Jo-Ann Tait is the Vice President, Richmond Community Services.
Biography
As Vice President for Richmond Community Services, Jo-Ann is responsible for providing executive leadership support to the operations teams and community health services and programs including home health, mental health and substance use, primary care and long-term care, home support, palliative care and cancer care.
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with more than 25 years of experience caring for patients, clients and residents across acute, community and corporate services, Jo-Ann brings her passion for clinical operations and professional practice balanced with quality improvement and strategic planning.
Jo-Ann started with Vancouver Coastal Health in 2005 in professional practice and has served in progressive leadership positions as an educator and clinical nurse specialist, prior to supporting Providence Health Care as an Operations Leader, Corporate Director for Seniors Care, and eventually Vice President of Clinical Operations. Prior to her current role, Jo-Ann served as Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) Executive Director of Long-Term Care and Assisted Living guiding our teams to care for some of our most vulnerable during the global pandemic.
Jo-Ann completed her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2007 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychiatric Nursing. She is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces Naval Reserves and has been an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) School of Nursing since 2011.
As a leader, Jo-Ann is known for her authentic, relationship-based leadership style and brings a contagiously positive energy in bringing back hope to the people we serve, the teams who serve them and the partnerships that enable that synergy. She has supported teams to achieve new heights in advocacy for populations who have been unseen, unheard and marginalized through transformative models and culture changes that have been provincially and nationally recognized.
She is the recipient of multiple awards for health care leadership and innovation, including a Medal of Distinction from the UBC School of Nursing, the Award of Excellence in Nursing Administration from the Association of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of BC and the Quality Culture Trailblazer Award from the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council.
