Harm reduction: Toward the Heart
Bella Coola Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Services offers information and helps connect adults aged 19 and older to the service or resource in the Bella Coola area to best meet their needs.
When you reach out to us, our team member will meet with you (either virtually, in-person, or by phone) to discuss the mental health and/or substance use issues you are experiencing and support you to connect with resources to help you on your wellness journey. This may include:
- Seeing a mental health worker or wellness worker
- Accessing substance use services such as substance use treatment services or substance use withdrawl management (detox)
- Possibly being referred for counselling (virtual or in-person)
- Support to access harm reduction supplies
You may be referred to resources in the community, within the Nation in which you live, or possibly outside of the community. The most appropriate resource option will be determined between you and the Bella Coola mental health and substance use team member supporting you. If you do require assistance to travel outside of the community for mental health and/or substance use resources, the Indigenous Patient Navigator or a member of the MHSU team can help you connect with Patient Travel or help you to navigate the health-care system.
