The experts in the VGH Cardiac Sciences Program provide cardiac care and cardiac surgery services to patients with heart disease and other cardiac conditions. Services include minimally invasive procedures, open heart surgery and rehabilitation.

We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Visiting hours may vary depending on the unit. Please call the Vancouver General Hospital switchboard at (604) 875-4111 to determine visiting times before your visit.
How to get here
Parking
We suggest you drop off your elderly family members before searching for parking. Find parking near the VGH ICU on Google Maps, or download the VGH map and parking PDF.
You may find two-hour free parking between Oak and Granville streets (southwest of the hospital) and between West 12th and West 20th avenues. Read the signs before you park. Parking attendants survey the area regularly, and there are many blocks designated for residents only.
Public transit
A number of buses run along Broadway, including 99 B-Line, 17 Downtown and the 9 Alma/Boundary. The closest skytrain is the Canada Line at Cambie Street and Broadway. Visit the Translink website for routes and more information.
Cardiac units at VGH
Cardiac Unit (LB10A)
The Cardiac Unit (LB10A) is located on the tenth (10th) floor of Leon Blackmore Pavilion. This unit provides services for patients requiring cardiac sciences and pre and post-cardiac surgery care
Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU)
The Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) is located on the second (2nd) floor of the Jim Pattison Pavilion (North). This unit provides services to patients requiring critical care after elective or emergency cardiac surgery or thoracic aortic repair. This unit is managed by a team of cardiac anesthetists specializing in critical care issues.
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is located on the ground floor of Jim Pattison Pavilion (North). This unit provides specialized services to patients who are critically ill due to a cardiac condition.

What are the visiting hours for the Cardiac Science units?
For all units, visitors are welcome throughout the day. However, in order to promote the well-being of our patients, we kindly ask visitors to be considerate of the patient's need for rest.
At times, you may be asked to step off the unit or out of the room to allow space for staff to complete their tasks.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate overnight stays for visitors.
For CSICU only, please: No visitors before 10 a.m. and Only 1 visitor at a time.

Can I call the Cardiac Sciences units?
Please try to minimize phone calls to the units between 7 and 8:30 a.m. and 7 and 8:30 p.m., as nursing handover occurs during this time, and the staff will be busy.
To help reduce phone calls and time away from the bedside, please try to designate one person in your family to receive and share updates.

Is there wifi or TV available in the Cardiac Sciences units?
Free WIFI is available for patients and visitors. The password changes monthly, so please ask a staff member for the current password.
TV service is available for a fee on LB10A. To set up, go to: connectmybed.ca or call 1-866-223-3686.
