Mental health outpatient services provide assessment, consultation and time-limited group therapy treatment for adults ages 19 and up.

About Mental Health & Substance Use Outpatient Services at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH)

Clients of this program will typically work with a multidisciplinary team. Services provided will reflect the care needs of the person. The services may include: 

  • Suicide Attempt, Follow-Up, Education and Research (SAFER): Suicide Attempt Follow-up, Education and Research (S.A.F.E.R.) is a free, time-limited counselling service that provides counselling for individuals aged 19 and over who have made a suicide attempt, are currently suicidal, or have suicidal ideation.
  • Groups therapy: Variety of offerings, ranging from drop-in groups to group therapy.
  • Psychiatric consultation

    Call or walk in to the Access and Assessment Centre if you think this service may be right for you. 

    We also accept Physician and Nurse Practitioner referrals. If you are referring to this program, please complete a referral and send to AAC for review.
