Older Adult Mental Health Program - Sunshine Coast provides care planning, capability assessments and short-term-counselling to adults aged 65 and over who have cognitive decline due to aging-related conditions.

What our services include

  • Mental Health and cognitive assessments related to advancing age and risk management
  • Educational and general support to families, caregivers and clients
  • Participating in ReACT investigations of abuse and neglect to vulnerable adults under the Adult Guardianship Act
  • Supporting the Geriatric Psychiatry program (referral from a physician is required for referral to the Geriatric Psychiatrist)
  • Consultation and collaboration with other programs, agencies, families and physicians

How to access

  • Check eligibility

    • ​​Adults aged 65 and over who have developed a mental health problem, or behavioural issues related to advancing dementia, or have medical problems related to aging that complicate the treatment of a mental illness.
    • Resident of the Sunshine Coast, B.C. (Egmont to Port Mellon)

    We accept referrals from community partners, physicians, family, friends and self-referrals. 

    Referral to Geriatric Psychiatry requires a faxed referral from a Physician with MSP number. To refer, fax a referral to (604) 885-5842.
