For the second year running, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has been named by Mediacorp Canada Inc. as one of BC's Top Employers. The achievement follows Canada's Top Employers 2023 announcement and recognizes VCH as a leader in the industry - a hub for healthcare, research, academic expertise and clinical excellence - and, most of all, VCH's commitment to caring for everyone.

“We’re a team, and we support and challenge one another,” says Vivian Eliopoulos, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This support is based on VCH’s values and pillars, which are essential to care for a large and diverse team. Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, Indigenous cultural safety and planetary health is the beacon of our work, helping us build safer workplaces.”

Mylene Dualan, a registered nurse, clinical nurse educator and patient care coordinator in the Hemodialysis Unit at Vancouver General Hospital, has worked at VCH since 1998 and attributes her long tenure to the positive working environment. “If you want to be happy with your job, work with a friendly team, have good benefits and be supported by your employer, this is the place.”

VCH stood out amongst its competitors for offering continuous learning and training for staff and medical staff, essential in our fast-changing health-care sector. This includes paid internships and apprenticeships, mentoring, in-house and online training programs, tuition subsidies as well as subsidies for professional accreditation. In addition, VCH provides a formal employee health services program that was developed with employee feedback and features a dedicated employee health coordinator to address health and wellness-related issues.
