The Complex and Rapid Early Stabilization (CARES) Clinic is a referral-only service that is designed to keep you stable and well during your transition between the emergency department (ED) or Vancouver General Hospital, or to or from care in your community.
What to expect
You will be seen by an attending physician who will often have trainees given Vancouver General Hospital is a UBC training centre. Please expect 60-90 minutes for your initial appointment. Your physician may request additional tests (bloodwork, X-rays, etc.) after the appointment. Follow-up appointments will be booked as needed. If you do not currently have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, CARES Clinic will organise one for you.
What do I bring with me?
Please ensure you bring a copy of your medications, allergies, and any other information you feel the physician may find relevant in regards to your health.
