Work permit
To start work in British Columbia, Canada, as a non-Canadian citizen or non-Canadian permanent resident, you need a valid work permit. If you are still awaiting outcomes for your work permit or registration process, we encourage you to still apply for jobs with Vancouver Coastal Health. Please make a note in your resume about your work eligibility.

To practice as a nurse in British Columbia, Canada, you will need registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Nurses who completed their nursing education in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States may be able to obtain registration more quickly.

International Nurse Practitioners
Vancouver Coastal Health, located in British Columbia, Canada, welcomes applications and inquiries from nurse practitioners trained outside of Canada. VCH supports internationally trained nurse practitioners through mentorship, leadership engagement and a workplace culture rooted in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
To practice with Vancouver Coastal Health, registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required.
Navigation support and relocation reimbursements are available. Reimbursement for expenses related to relocation of up to $23,500 may be available.

International Physicians
Vancouver Coastal Health, located in British Columbia, Canada, welcomes applications and questions from physicians trained outside of Canada. As a VCH physician, you will be supported by multidisciplinary teams and a culture that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
To practice in VCH facilities, you will need registration with B.C.'s medical regulatory authority, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).Physicians trained in the USA may be able to receive full registration more quickly.
The BC Physician Integration Program provides International Medical Graduates with provisional registration with a comprehensive orientation and introduction to the provincial health-care system.
