The BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is an economic immigration program that allows the Province to strategically select and nominate prospective immigrants for permanent residence status in Canada.
The program is administered by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs in partnership with the federal government. Under this agreement, a limited number of nominations are allocated to B.C. each year. Nominations for physicians, midwives, nurses and priority allied health professionals are currently being prioritized.
Licensing
Are you internationally educated? To practice your profession in B.C., you must be registered with the appropriate statutory body at the time of your start date. Get to work quickly with provisional licensing, tailored recruitment supports, streamlined immigration processes, and transitional education programs.

Registration and licensing for international Physicians (International Medical Graduates)
All physicians who practice in B.C. must be registered and licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC).
There are additional organizations involved in the credentialling of IMGs:
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- College of Family Physicians of Canada
- Medical Council of Canada
The BC Physician Integration Program provides IMGs on provisional registration with a comprehensive orientation and introduction to the provincial health care system.
If you trained outside of Canada and have not practised in a Canadian province or territory, contact Health Match BC. They provide advice and support with registration and licensure with CPSBC.

Relocation assistance and financial incentives
British Columbia has several incentives in place to support your transition into the province and your new workplace or community. New employees may be eligible for financial relocation assistance for select regular-status, hard-to-fill positions.
