Evidence of the excitement that comes from working on the Central Coast is everywhere:

“I have had a lot of autonomy to grow in my position and to work both in the hospital and the community with my role. However, what really still absolutely memorizes me is the beauty that I am surrounded with. The hospital sits directly on the coast line. Each patient’s room has a large picturesque view of the ocean. On any given day I can watch whales go by, or an eagle perch itself on the tree directly outside. I frequently am woken up by the wolves at night. My most favorite thing while working is to take a moment and simply watch the ocean traffic of cruise ships, barges, local fishermen and the coast guard.”
– Larisa MacGregor, Licensed Practical Nurse at R.W. Large Memorial Hospital

I could not have asked for  more engaged & dedicated employees.
Michel Bazille, Retired Director at Bella Coola General Hospital

“Since arriving about a week ago I’ve been reminded of the awesome natural beauty of the Chilcotin plateau and Bella Coola valley and have had the privilege of meeting some great people around the hospital and community. I think it’s a unique place and a real gem in the province of B.C.”
Luke Hughson, UBC Med Student

My experience in Bella Coola has been invaluable – I would not have landed the job in Pemberton had I not gained so much experience here – it’s been very rewarding.
Megan Ross, Public Health Nurse

“I have never felt so accepted and included in a place, which I so obviously didn’t fit in. I was moving from the Saskatchewan prairies to coastal BC. I shared little-to-no common interests with people who today, I am proud to call some of my best friends,” says Jenna, Combined Lab and X-ray Technologist (CLXT), Bella Coola General Hospital. Read her Staff Spotlight here.

“I wanted an adventure, to work with a community I am passionate about and the fact that I could continue my education seemed like a perfect opportunity. Although Bella Bella is on an island, it doesn’t feel that secluded because it’s very accessible by ferry and air back home to Vancouver. I was blown away by the beauty of the island and the warmth of the people.” – Zamantha, Registered Nurse, R.W. Large Memorial Hospital in Bella Bella

“The community has really made me feel welcomed. What’s great is that the hospital staff genuinely enjoy spending time together and meeting new people. You won’t leave Bella Bella without making a new friend.”
