Carmine

Manager, Human Resources (retired)
Employee Engagement

“I just retired so I’m going to be playing a lot more golf! A lot has changed since I started. We used to make quite a distinction between mental health services, addiction services, community services and acute services. Over the years we’ve seen the integration of these services and I think that’s a really good thing.

One of my best moments was when we opened the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health and Addictions. It was rewarding seeing the clients go into that centre and benefit from it. And when they got to the point where they could leave, a few of them came to us to thank us for all of the work we did.

Working in human resources I was sometimes involved with the closure of sites and programs. But I was also involved with the creation of a lot of new jobs and programs, which was rewarding. I liked seeing projects from start to finish. I got to help create a lot of new programs, watch their birth, watch their rollout and then see their success.”

Carmine worked in VCH facilities since 2000. See current career opportunities in human resources.
