Enjoy a great mix of city and outdoor life on Vancouver’s North Shore. We have some of the mildest weather in Canada with the coastal marine climate. Prepare to fall in love with year-round nature trails, seaside strolls as well as winter downhill and cross-country skiing minutes from your door. Coffee shops, boutiques and great restaurants dot the retail area along the shore of the Burrard Inlet. The homes, indeed the workplaces, can’t help but come with a view of the mountains, the ocean or both!
On the North Shore, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) contributes to the health of more than 193,000 residents in North Vancouver and West Vancouver by providing a range of direct and contracted health care services that support people from birth to end of life, from hospital care through community, public health, and long-term care.
Lions Gate Hospital
Located on the beautiful North Shore, Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) is a level 3 Trauma centre closely affiliated with UBC Hospital and the fourth busiest hospital in the Vancouver area. LGH provides a range of services including general medicine, critical care, emergency, general surgery, orthopedics, maternity, pediatrics, palliative care, and rehabilitative services. In a year, the hospital has approximately 178,000 patient visits.
LGH has 10 operating rooms including two new minimally invasive theatres. Surgical services include general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, gynecology, ENT, vascular, orthopaedic, plastic and neurosurgery procedures.
Evergreen House
Located on the campus of LGH, Evergreen House (EGH) is a fully accredited and licensed facility directly owned and operated by VCH. Built-in 1971, EGH is home to 284 residents who require complex long-term care. Interdisciplinary health care services are provided for residents who are no longer able to stay at home safely. Residents are provided with support and assistance in activities of daily living including personal care, medication administration, and complex care needs. Care is provided within a leisure model and person-centered approach. The home-like environment focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Home Support
Our philosophy is that home is best, as most people wish to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. We are committed to the quality of life by supporting independence, health, and wellness through the delivery of person and family-centered care. Home support services can be provided on a short-term basis, such as after leaving the hospital or as part of end-of-life care, or over a longer period, such as several months or years.
We have opportunities for you to join our team as a Community Health Worker II (Health Care Assistant/Care Aide) on the North Shore. Be a core part of our communities as caregivers and make a significant impact on the quality of life of their clients and patients.
