Financial accountability
This section provides information about the financial resources we use to meet our targets, maintain our health services and develop new and innovative services.
Transparency and accountability to the public
Public sector organizations must comply with government’s reporting requirements and commitment to transparency and accountability to the public under the Budget Transparency & Accountability Act including annual budget and estimates, public accounts, quarterly reports, service plans, annual reports and major capital project plans.
The B.C. government issues an annual mandate letter to each health authority to communicate their annual direction and confirm their mandate and priorities.

Pay transparency
In May 2023, the Government of British Columbia passed the Pay Transparency Act to help identify and close gender pay gaps in B.C. Under this new legislation, VCH and other health authorities are required to produce and post annual pay transparency reports, focused on gender-based pay equity as an important step in identifying and addressing potential pay equity gaps.
