Bone density tests evaluate the risk of developing osteoporosis or bone fractures, or to see if a treatment plan is stabilizing bone density.
Bone densitometry scans evaluate the fracture risk and monitor therapeutic regimes for osteoporosis. Bone density testing will determine the mineral content or strength of bones.
What to expect
There are no injections and the amount of radiation received is very small. Your appointment will take 10 to 30 minutes. There are no after effects from this procedure.
