The Spinal Cord Injury Inpatient Program offers specialized inpatient rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injuries. This program is primarily for clients with new spinal cord injuries. However, clients with chronic spinal cord injuries who have required a flap repair for pressure injuries may also be eligible.

What to expect

We serve people with spinal cord injuries in British Columbia and the Yukon. This includes traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injuries and adults with Spina Bifida. We offer an interdisciplinary team service consisting of Physiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreation Therapy and Social Work.

Clients with motor incomplete spinal cord injuries from health authorities outside of Vancouver Coastal Health may be served at either G.F. Strong or their local rehabilitation center, depending on the severity of the injury.

The program also has access to centralized services, including psychology, vocational counselling, dietician, sexual health, orthotics, and assistive technology and seating services.
