Wayne Balshin
Wayne Balshin is the Vice President, People and brings over 25 years of senior Human Resources/Labour Relations (HR/LR) leadership experience to his role.
Biography
As Vice President, People, Wayne Balshin provides caring support to over 30,000 staff and medical staff at every stage of their career at VCH. With an aim to create welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone, the People team focuses on building a great place to work, one where everyone matters and feels valued, respected and supported.
As a member of the law society of BC and a graduate of Osgood Hall York University, Wayne brings over 25 years of senior leadership experience in the areas of human resources, labour relations and work design/compensation to his role. With a keen ability to blend operational needs with collective agreement requirements to support staff and medical staff in a caring way, Wayne has led a range of workforce initiatives to support staff and medical staff in delivering exceptional care.
Wayne was selected for the Award of Excellence: HR Professional of the Year 2011 by the Human Resources Management Association. He continually advocates for the success and well-being of unionized and excluded staff by supporting progressive, people-first initiatives and encouraging collaborative partnerships with the Ministry of Health, other health authority partners and community stakeholders.
In addition to his extensive experience at VCH, Wayne is an authentic and caring leader who is dedicated to identifying opportunities for improvements that make VCH a great place to work and enhancing care for the populations we serve.
